Cheers:  Yes Means Yes. The blog is amazing.  Well-written and even funny (yes, feminists can be funny), it’s endorsed by not only Bitch magazine, but also Ms., and Jean Kilbourne.  My personal introductory post was, Wipe Your Shame-Cave, Honey.

Jeers:  Rihanna not being proactive, and for staying with Chris Brown while he pleads not guilty to bashing her face in.  What time period does this kid think she’s in?  Does she not know she’s a MEGA-SUPERSTAR who’s endorsing public domestic violence?

Cheers:  Rage Against the Manchine. This blog has a great personality.  Each post conveys a wickedly intelligent message, done in a natural, pedestrian jargon that makes it accessible.  They’ve got potential to be a bit lengthy, but they’re bound to get a reaction from you, whether it be rooting for or against her.  Just check out some of the comments on her about page.  Excellent.  And you know what else?  This is the only person who hates sports in the same way I do.  How can I not write a love post?

Jeers:  Sarah Palin. Two reasons why:

  • She’s an idiot wielding substantial power, at least in name.
  • She’s been mercilessly, relentlessly attacked for things ranging from her failure as a mother to her clothes.  You can’t tell me that other (male) presidential candidates have both perfect familes and shop at Goodwill while campaigning.

I feel almost compelled to say, “poor thing…”, but then I catch myself.

Cheers:  The Curvature. She’s got Anti-Feminist Bingo Cards to go along with her amazingly comprehensive and well-organized links.  What can I say?  I have sidebar envy.  Apart from that, however, she’s got amazingly written posts with really great info.  I particularly like how the article, “Observe and Report: It Gets Worse.  Much Worse.” has an “asshole” tag.

Jeers:  Emily Bazelon’s disappearing Twitter feed. I’m a huge fan of Slate’s Political Gabfest.  Recently they were talking about Emily’s truancy on her twitter feed.  I went to check it out, and it’s missing.  WTF, EMILY!  At least let me follow your non-existent posts!

By our powers combined, WE ARE CAPTAIN PLANET!

By our powers combined, WE ARE CAPTAIN PLANET!

In an attempt to bridge disciplinary gaps between causes, consider this feminist round-up of cool and not-so-cool goings-on the first of a series.  No matter your cause of choice, these issues are relevant and useful.  Oppression is oppression.  The sooner we can collectively recognize this hierarchical system, the sooner we can join forces to and brainstorm ways to overcome.

Captain Planet-style.

And who doesn’t like Captain Planet?
